Surah An-Najm (النجم) — The Star

Surah An-Najm is chapter 53 of the Holy Quran. It has 62 verses and was revealed in Makkah. Read it below with Arabic text and Saheeh International English translation, with audio recitation available in the reader.

وَٱلنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ

53:1. By the star when it descends,

مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ

53:2. Your companion [i.e., Muḥammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred,

وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ

53:3. Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination.

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْىٌ يُوحَىٰ

53:4. It is not but a revelation revealed,

عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلْقُوَىٰ

53:5. Taught to him by one intense in strength [i.e., Gabriel] -

ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ

53:6. One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form

وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

53:7. While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon.
