Surah Ar-Rum (الروم) — The Romans

الٓمٓ

30:1. Alif, Lām, Meem.

غُلِبَتِ ٱلرُّومُ

30:2. The Byzantines have been defeated

فِىٓ أَدْنَى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ غَلَبِهِمْ سَيَغْلِبُونَ

30:3. In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome

فِى بِضْعِ سِنِينَ ۗ لِلَّهِ ٱلْأَمْرُ مِن قَبْلُ وَمِنۢ بَعْدُ ۚ وَيَوْمَئِذٍ يَفْرَحُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ

30:4. Within three to nine years. To Allāh belongs the command [i.e., decree] before and after. And that day the believers will rejoice

بِنَصْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ يَنصُرُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

30:5. In the victory of Allāh. He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ لَا يُخْلِفُ ٱللَّهُ وَعْدَهُۥ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

30:6. [It is] the promise of Allāh. Allāh does not fail in His promise, but most of the people do not know.

يَعْلَمُونَ ظَـٰهِرًا مِّنَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمْ غَـٰفِلُونَ

30:7. They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware.
